that an ignorant, incoherent, babbling idiot with absolutely no redeeming qualities whatsoever would be president of the United States not only once, but twice. It boggles my little mind. Every single day, he embarrasses himself and our country with his vast incompetence and stupidity. And he surrounds himself with incompetent and stupid people.
And there are people who are totally okay with it! No matter how ridiculous, outrageous, stupid, illegal or immoral, they're okay with it, all of it.
FFS, the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES posts pictures of himself as Rocky and Superman; he sells watches, shoes, Bibles and perfume from the White House; he tweets gibberish out to the world every single day; and he makes a jackass out of himself in front of world leaders; and they're perfectly okay with it.
If I live to be 100, I will never get it.

(17,311 posts)I hate Trump, but his little idiot followers are almost as bad. I don't know what it's going to take to turn this country around, but we need to see some major changes if we're going to survive as one united country.

(17,311 posts)They're easily led by people who profit from their stupidity. If they weren't so damned mean-spirited, I might feel sorry for them.

they would not tolerate it from a man of color, oh heck, from ANY DEMOCRATIC MAN

First it was hate radio, then foxnews. The msm refused to label it propaganda and while their reporting was more conventional, they nevertheless allowed these propaganda outlets to set the agenda, pick the issues, frame them, choose the catchphrases, even how the issues were debated, etc.
The result was a gradual but consistent shift ever rightward, a corruption of our national dialogue, and a removal of all guardrails preventing a descent into the abyss.
Donnie didn't come out of nowhere. He, or someone like him, was part of a long term plan going back to the Reagan/gingrich and the Koch brothers and their circle of billionaires and mega millionaires he'll-bent on turning government into something they could corrupt and abuse.
Turns out posting commentary against this for a quarter century wasn't nearly enough. We needed our own billionaires, but none showed up on our side.

(6,888 posts)They will do anything to destroy democracy, which to them is nothing more than an annoying check on their power. I'm afraid it will get worse before it gets better.
Perhaps one day they will wake up to the lesson of the Gilded Age, which is that democracy and reform are the best tools to forestall revolution. I'm not optimistic.
