ICE arrest Pasadena mother without warrant--turns out they abducted wrong person. Only 2 of 3 agents had a badge

More and more of these horror stories come out hour after hour!!

ICE arrest Pasadena mother without warrant—turns out they abducted wrong person.

Only 2 of 3 agents had a badge—none were in uniform.

"I didn’t know if I was witnessing a hate crime or a kidnapping," said witness.

Video cuts off just as daughter begs, "Call the police."

"And because they might have been law enforcement, I wasn’t even sure whether to call the police."

Jillian Reed did end up calling 911—reporting what she thought was a possible kidnapping.

Rosalina Luna Vargas was eventually taken into custody despite her 2 children's best efforts.

After inflicting all of that trauma—ICE later admit they arrested the wrong person by mistake in the first place.

Told the family they had just been "in the wrong place at the wrong time."

Besides taking statements, have they identified these men? Are they going arrest or charge anyone?

Local police usually can't interfere with federal law enforcement - or in this case "law enforcement."

The woman who was abducted - it would be wrong to call it an arrest - will have to file a lawsuit. No idea what the chances of success are on that, though; she was released, and ICE can claim to have been working "in good faith" or something like that.

So it is the responsibility of citizens (and non-citizen residents) to always make sure they are in the right place at the right time?

What place are safe and what places should we avoid? Are there times of day that are safer to be outdoors?

Or maybe they are implying that anyone in a public place is subject to kidnapping by police state thugs. Too bad for them. They deserved it. /s

but a daily Green Sheet app.
Nextdoor works okay.
My local covers Sylmar, San Fernando, Pacoima and adjoining cities and I know where ICE is.
Out of 100 people I see in a day, only a few are white.
I have no problem with this.
A smile goes a long way and they also speak English. (Duh!)
Much better than my Spanish.

If anyone knows how to blur pics, someone should blur that license plate. I fear for retaliation against the family. This is where we are. The victims end up getting harassed.

She wasn't held that long, and she was released. Unless she lost her job over this or was very seriously injured, it's not likely a good lawyer would take this one.

ICE can always claim it was an honest mistake, and that they corrected it as soon as the error was made clear to them. IOr as soon as it went public, at any rate.)

At least in this case, they're not trying to make up some sort of phony "crime" to justify their actions, as they have in the past.

Grabbing someone and carting them off with no legal justification whatsoever is kidnapping, a felony. The excuse that we made a mistake and abducted the wrong person does NOT cut it. A Texas cop was jailed for murder when she and her squad busted into the wrong house and killed a woman. A cop committing a violent crime against someone due to mistaken identity does NOT get to give that an exonerating excuse. If they do something evil to an innocent person because they "thought" she was someone else, they are guilty of the crime committed, period. Whether or not they get prosecuted for it is another matter, but sometimes, they do. Unfortunately, to my knowledge, in this current ICE feeding frenzy, no thug who has committed a violent crime against an innocent due to mistaken identity has yet to be charged and tried for the offense. Until that changes, or until a couple of ICE-contracted thugs are killed by innocent armed people they tried to abduct by mistake, the reign of terror will continue.

But they do need to have probable cause to believe that the person committed a crime in their jurisdiction.

So who did they think she was?

The situation escalated when Vargas broke free and ran into Del Mar Park, an assisted living facility at 990 East Del Mar Boulevard, according to witnesses.

Her children formed what Reed described to KTLA as “a human wall” to protect their mother.

Facility staff reportedly told the agents they were on private property and needed to leave without a warrant, according to witnesses. The agents complied, photographed witnesses, and departed in two separate vehicles before returning later and detaining Vargas.

...Apart from that whole "photographed witnesses" bit. And returning later to finish the crime.

What I DON'T see in articles is Vargas' current status. Was she released? Or disappeared?

Miller's Gestapo only cares about meeting quotas. Don't expect humanity from Nazis.

this is why you don't. Brown is brown. Your I.D. does not have R or D. You are the target, your children are the target, your spouses are the target and your parents are the target. Next time you go to vote, look in the mirror and then look at any Republican leader, pundit, or townhall and tell yourself one of these is not like the other.

Color and race aren't the reason you need to vote Democratically it's the reason they vote Republican. To them, you are the problem not, part of the solution.

Stop thinking you are one of them, you are a scourge. You have alienated your people at what price. You show stupidity and hatred of your heritage. You should be paraded around "our neighborhoods" with signs and a cowbell so others avoid becoming you.

This is no longer a choice between 2 parties. This is a choice to hate. It's that simple. You are incapable of loving yourself and therefore incapable of loving your fellow human being.

Do us all a big favor and move to Idaho. See how welcoming they will be.

Sorry everybody, I got side tracked.
Enjoy the rest of your day.

someone and take them away they don't give you transportation back to where you were. Plus if you were by your car or driving your car will be towed and set up for asset forfeiture. If you can get out in time before it is "disposed of" you will have to pay a big towing and storage charge in order to get your vehicle back. That can run into the thousands of dollars in a short time. Even though none of it ever should have happened.
