Some believe that if enough people can clear their minds of the clutter and emotions, that nature has a way to inject its own judgement on the issues of the day.
For example, imagine you are alone, standing on the bank of a very still mountain lake. The weather is warm and the sky is a turquoise blue. You feel relaxed to be in such an environment.
You see a small pebble on the ground. It is like a small marble and it is solid white. You pick it up and look at it more closely.
Then, you toss the pebble into the still mountain lake. You can see the small waves appear as it hits the water. You wonder if the waves will make it all the way to the bank where you are standing. You watch as they get closer and closer to you.
Then, they arrive. You look up above the trees and see a small white cloud appear out of nowhere. You do not connect the marble to the cloud.
But there are many more things that we do not understand than that we do understand. Perhaps you consider it a waste of time to have read these few words? But, just think, for a minute or so, your mind was not cluttered with any political thoughts or animosities toward anyone.
Sometimes maybe, karma needs space to work.

(52,359 posts)My only gripe about Karma is that most of the time, I'm not there to see it happen.

(2,855 posts)but as an overriding supernatural concept, no, I don't believe in it.
I find "karma" to be less compelling than say, accountability - actively sought.

I know a start could be if the soon to be young Mayor of NY, becomes Mayor and the younger Democrats pick up the mantle we oldies have been carrying since the 60s to make some serious changes. Im just so tired. Karma?? *keeping fingers crossed*

If he *must* be reborn as a human, I hope it would be as a woman. And *not* a Miss USA contestant.

(149,504 posts)So far, nobody has ever shown me any evidence that karma is in effect. Instead, I continue to see terrible people doing terrible things over and over again, without any "karma" affecting them.
So, show me some cases where "karma" has actually had an effect. I'll wait here.
Karma is a philosophical and religious concept, and it is no more than that, in my opinion. It's a great idea, but probably doesn't exist as an active principle.
Again, I have seen no evidence of it in action.

All we can do is try to save the kittens and the kids from the parasites. Because its the right thing to do.

No?
I won't believe in karma until that happens.

(4,501 posts)All my life Ive seen good people get shafted over and over again and bad people rewarded without getting their comeuppance.
I always used Dick Cheney as an example of this but I think Piss is an even better one. Horrible people, never held to account for anything theyve ever done and their families set for generations. Untouchable.
No, I dont believe in karma any more than I believe in heaven and hell.

(34,864 posts)Clearly, with trump & co, it's not manifesting in the swift, obvious and direct way that I'd prefer.
At the same time, when I take a step back and look at the picture more broadly, it could be that we're witnessing karma for the United States as a whole.
And I'm not just referring to karma for the atrocities committed in the past.
Imagine where we'd be now if back in the 60s, Congress had committed to ensuring an excellent public education for all students? An excellent educational program would require students to apply critical thinking skills, which many Americans (especially MAGAts) don't seem to have nowadays.
Had Congress prioritized education, we'd have a well informed public. trump and the corrupt six wouldn't be in their positions.
