Cuomo had to resign in disgrace after a report from the attorney general about his sexual harassment scandals. It didn't end there. He was also accused of deceiving the public on the impact of covid on nursing homes.
NYC Dems deserve credit for rejecting a slightly more competent version of Trump. Hopefully Dems continue to hold their candidates to higher ethical standards.

(4,663 posts)I am from western NY, and never lived in the city, but of course grew up always aware of who was holding the office. Mamdani came across really well on the extended Colbert interview someone posted earlier, which lessened some of my concerns. I thought there were some good choices. The comptroller seemed decent.
Eric Adams is so corrupt, and Cuomo, well, hes no Mario.
I would honestly value your thoughts on this.

(8,076 posts)And beyond the sex pest and nursing home scandals, Cuomo is a guy who felt entitled to win, had no ideas, and thought he could coast to victory only on donor checks and name recognition. And too many people in the party echelons really, really want that to be a winning formula.
New Yorkers chose a fresh start. Im very hopeful

The attempt to hang a Hamas jacket on Mamdani quite possibly cost them 2-4 points in the polls. People are sick of bullshit, it seems.

As recent votes in the House have show, one or two votes would have made a difference. However, THREE Democratic seats were occupied only by the ghosts of their previous holders.
I tremendously admired Ruth Baden Ginsburg. However, it would have been best had she decided to retire when she could have been replaced by a progressive.
President Biden did a remarkable job as President. However, it would have been better had he stuck to his announced plan when running the first time, that he would be a one-term president and had given Vice President Harris some time in the spotlight.
Apparently, it is just too hard to give up the heady attraction of power to do what you must know in your heart is the need to pass the torch to a new generation?
