This one hits hard. Never thought about it that way.

They’re not perfect. But when they had a mass shooting they were rational about it. Passed laws banning assault weapons and had a gun buy back. Their nation looked into its heart and said “never again”. And it hasn’t happened again.

I live in Texas and we had Uvalde and the response here is the elimination of red flag laws. So, of course, it will happen again.

We got the self-righteous fundy fanatics who are perfectly willing to scapegoat and accuse others of their own wrong doing, as well as jail, torture and execute anyone who dared to disagree with their oppressive and toxic beliefs ( see the Salem witch trials, as well as other religious persecutions in our countrie's history).
I guess the descendants of people who were forced from their homelands, given mock trials and fake convictions, and then "transported" to a penal colony, still have memories passed down through the generations and are capable of choosing a bit more in the way of justice and mercy.
