(70,392 posts)circle. Even at that young age, I was aghast at the number of kids for whom thinking, reading, processing sensory input, etc, was an ungodly chore, and sheer drudgery. I couldn't comprehend someone who didn't take joy in reading, learning, discovering, and so on.
I was in the remedial reading group in first and second grades. It was a real struggle for me. By third grade I was in the top level reading group. Something clicked for me the summer between second and third.
Sometimes kids who are blithering idiots get better.

(488 posts)In 2011, Trump said "Our president will start a war with Iran because he has absolutely no ability to negotiate. He's weak and he's ineffective. Trump later ended Obamas verifiable agreement that was totally working. Then he went to war with Iran after his own negotiations failed, and not long after his negotiations with Ukraine and Russia failed.
Now, it's obvious: he want to play golf this weekend.

(844 posts)with pre-election polling (including Democratic internal polling) indicating the election would be very close (which it was)?
As well as to post-election polling showing Democratic party priorities not aligning with voter priorities?
Also polling and analysis by groups like Catalist, which showed problems with turnout compared to 2020?
All of that is rigged too?
Botany
(74,701 posts)I dont have every answer but 3 things I know for certain:
1) that election was dirty
b) Trump knew and acted like the fix was in.
iii) The election data was most certainly messed with.
I didnt see an answer to my question about why multiple independent data points are largely in line with the election results.
And I don't see anything else in the articles that is particularly convincing. Other than the usual Republican dirty tricks they use to supress Democratic turnout, I see no evidence of a grand conspiracy to alter the results by messing with a variety of voting machines across multiple states. We see these people in action publicly. They can't seem to do anything right, but somehow they pull off the crime of the century?

.. machines when contesting the 2020 election but the central tabulators and operating systems
of ES&S and Dominion were compromised via the firmware patches installed by Eaton which
allowed manipulation and or surveillance of the data.
The Revolution
(844 posts)For argument's sake, let's just take it as a given that they tampered with the voting machines and manipulated the results.
How did they also tamper with polls at the time showing the race would be close, or a slight edge to Trump just at the end?
How did they tamper with internal Democratic polling?
What about polling afterwards showing Democratic priorities don't align with voter priorities? (Except on healthcare)
What about the post election analysis done by Catalist that shows Harris performing worse with many groupscompared to Biden in 2020?
Why do these data points line up with the result?

https://www.msn.com/en-us/politics/elections/donald-trump-gets-double-digit-poll-boost-from-4-voter-groups/ar-AA1GYlUF?ocid=BingNewsSerp
Donald Trump made considerable gains with Black, Hispanic and Asian voters in the 2024 election, increasing his share of the vote in all but two states in 2024.
These gains among key voting blocs traditionally aligned with Democrats could reshape the balance of power in Congress and embolden Trump to pursue more aggressive policies with broader public backing.

But we collectively put our fingers in our ears, and while jumping up and down, we are shouting nuh uh In other words, as long as our party continues to double down on the wrong side of almost every public opinion issue. We will continue to find ourselves here.

(5,072 posts)We now value what's familiar, popular, and easily digestible over what's rational, effective, and meaningfulinterrupted, of course, by hourly commercial breaks. Opinions are carefully weighted and packaged and delivered on polished cable news platforms, making viewers more emotionally attached to the newscaster than the news itself (very few days go by that we can avoid the juicy gossip or exceptional behaviors of these B-level celebrities we once called news hosts).
The idiots who tell me "that was never taught in my school!" are the same idiots who ditched class the day that was taught.
