(734 posts)...even for citizens. ICE agents need to start going to prison for this crap if we ever want to see an end to it.

(2,455 posts)for asking for ID and paperwork. They had no legal authority to kidnap anyone.
What he did was expose the fact they have no legal warrant to arrest anyone, any they got all butt hurt and attacked him.
I hope NY will start arresting ICE thugs. Even if they have ID. Treat them just like they are treating the people they are kidnapping..

(5,133 posts)are legit? In public places and in groups, odds are they're on-the-level, but at some point, the sex/drug traffickers can dress like these anonymous officers and other crimes will occur.

(7,786 posts)He was arrested and then released. There werent any charges to be dropped since hes not officially charged with anything yet. The SDNY just stated that they will investigate and determine if charges will be filed and/or brought before a grand jury for indictment. Could take a few days or weeks for that, just like with the NJ ICE facility indictment.

(7,786 posts)The federal prosecutor for the Southern District of New York issued a statement after Hochuls saying they would be investigating the incident. They are the ones that will ultimately decide on filing charges and seeking an indictment from a federal grand jury.
Thats why Hochuls statement didnt make much sense, federal arrests typically go before a grand jury before charges can be formally filed, there werent any charges to be dropped yet. Its also not up to the federal agents who arrested him to file or drop charges, they can release him after the arrest and gathering his information, but formally filing charges would go through the SDNY office.
I found an article -i think courthouse news, describing what you said.
Still, one of the first comments explains that no proof of authorization, or justification for the arrest, exists. Which I guess is part of the reason he was released so quickly.
If they could not provide proof of authorization, I cant imagine they will have much to charge him on.
