Trump breaks historic Columbia River deal between U.S. government, tribes, NW states

I really hate that man. Know nothing idiot … Google Elwha River.

A “historic” deal made two years ago between the U.S. government, four tribes, Northwest states and environmentalists to put legal battles aside and invest in restoring endangered Columbia River fish runs is now off.

President Donald Trump on Thursday signed a presidential memorandum withdrawing the U.S. government from a Dec. 14, 2023 agreement to help restore salmon, steelhead and other native fish being decimated by federal hydroelectric dams in the Columbia River Basin. The memorandum refers to the commitments as “onerous,” “misguided” and as placing “concerns about climate change above the nation’s interests in reliable energy resources.”

Snip

“This move by the Trump administration to throw away five years’ worth of progress is shortsighted and reckless,” said Mitch Cutter, a salmon and energy strategist at the Idaho Conservation League, in a statement. “The Resilient Columbia Basin Agreement was a landmark achievement between the federal government, states, Tribes and salmon advocates to find solutions for salmon and stay out of the courtroom. Now, it’s gone thanks to the uninformed impulses of a disconnected administration that doesn’t understand the Pacific Northwest and the rivers and fish that make our region special.”

The Confederated Tribes and Bands of the Yakama Nation, the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation, the Confederated Tribes of the Warm Springs Reservation of Oregon and the Nez Perce Tribe were part of the deal. In negotiations, the tribes, along with the states of Oregon and Washington, are referred to as the “six sovereigns.”

“The federal government made a commitment to Washington, Oregon and the Yakama, Umatilla, Nez Perce and Warm Springs tribes to work together to balance the shared goals of abundant salmon and reliable clean energy in the Columbia Basin,” Washington Gov. Bob Ferguson said in a statement. “Today, the Trump administration has callously abandoned that commitment.”

**********

Trump did this because President Biden listened to the scientists and supported ecological
restoration of natural systems. Not only does this help the salmon, it allows the return of the salmonoid
fishes upstream that help power the supportive capacities of the rivers and streams, allows
food and sediments to enter the ocean which build estuaries that support life and fix CO 2.
Trump just has to fuck things up. It is what he does. Damn I miss Joe Biden.

“This was a once-in-a-generation opportunity to modernize infrastructure across the Columbia River Basin, support reliable clean energy, and save imperiled salmon and steelhead runs,” Sen. Murray said in a statement. “The Trump administration’s senseless decision to tear it up is a betrayal of our Tribes and a tremendous setback for the entire Northwest.”

The group where Trump scored his most significant win?

Native Americans.

Exit polling from NBC News found Trump won 65 percent of the vote from “American Indians” (the term used by the pollsters), compared to 57 percent of votes from White Americans.

“As tribal leaders, we’re just trying to take care of our own people,” former Navajo Nation Vice President Myron Lizer said. “We’re tired of the same old, and there’s a lot of people in our movement.”

Screwing over another group that he suckered into voting for him.

I think those are Doge Boys #s.

1 million acres by the Grand Canyon to honor their ancestors and our Sec. of Interior was
a Native American too.

And Trump has long history of being an asshole to native peoples, calling Senator Warren
Pocahontas, and filing law suits against Native American gambling houses.

I hold a conspiracy theory I can't prove about Musk's Starlink downloading code to reset the tabulators in battleground states a few weeks ahead of the election. They're not related, and yet everything smells like fraud with this oligarch syndicate.

went 80% for a liberal woman, Kirsten Gillibrand, in 2022 for Governor. And do you think that
only happened 1 time? In Ohio in 2004 one precinct in a Columbus suburb produced 3,000 +
votes with something like 1,000 registered voters.

One of the reasons Krasnov is suing the one pollster who showed Harris was @ + 5% in
Iowa is because he knows he cheated. Remember in Sept. he said that he really didn’t need
any more votes and then talked about the size of Arnold Palmer’s penis in his hometown
of LaTrobe, PA, disrespected the rules of Arlington National Cemetery by taking pictures of
there, and then masturbated a mic stand after which he gave a blow job to the microphone
in front of a crowd and on T.V. too. He knew the fix was in.

Btw Watch out for the tried and true Republican response to Starlink and Central Tabulator
theories and it will always be something like, “Well you know that has been disproved.”

Sorry to babble…. Medical issues are keeping me with more downtime.

15. Ah, yes. I'd forgotten about that. It was probably a Musk test run on 'the fix.'

I do remember the felon told people at rallies that he didn't need any more votes.
It's not direct, but it's circumstantial enough evidence to back up my conspiracy theory.
And since Musk wants to keep those military contracts, we have more reason to believe that any upcoming elections will be handled the same way.

The national polls show that the felon's people should go down in 2026 and the felon himself in 2028.
If we lose those two, they'll prove that fascism has won. And then what.
I doubt that Indivisibles will be able to organize peaceful protests, and would like to believe that most of the same protestors might just be angry enough to go on the attack. And then he'll invoke the Insurrection Act.

I want to be hopeful around here, but today, and given what we know, I just don't see a positive future for this country right now.
