I don't trust air travel.
I don't want to run into ICE agents if I travel by car, stoping at a restaurant, hotel, etc.

change. Why would the very people that ICE and Customs/Border Control are most harassing/targeting (along with their supporters/family members) come to the US? Maybe FIFA will decide, instead,to add those matches to those already scheduled for Mexico and Canada. And... maybe they SHOULD.

Then there is the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles... What a potential cluster... F

in terms of their anger toward the US and what awaits them. Unless something shakes out soon, the lack of interest for matches prior is just a harbinger of what is to happen. As I said in my earlier post, I would not be even remotely surprised if FIFA sends those World Cup Matches scheduled for US to Canada and Mexico instead. And, I could not blame them. Why would they NOT?

Which the administration wants to completely either defund or sell to private parties, what is there to visit in the US?

Sorry, whether it’s for culture or food, or history or architecture, there are so many other countries I would want to visit over the US. Can’t find a way to be a booster for American tourism, when it doesn’t deserve it.

Oh and I don’t think people like end up being arbitrarily “detained” (what most people call arrested or kidnapped) for no reason by masked thugs with 3 letter acronyms.

If Americans gave a fuck about their tourism industry it wouldn’t have elected this psychopath. It frankly deserves to feel the consequences. I hope people in the industry feel the pain.

If you remember the ads, they went "They check in. They don't check out."

And so it goes with foreign visitors today. "You may be allowed in. You may or may not be allowed to leave."

Relatives of mine, have close relatives by marriage, that are in Europe.
Citizens of EU countries.

None will visit the US as long as Trump is in office.

And some had wanted to enjoy our natural wonders,
Especially visit some of America’s National Parks.

BUT they say why bother now…..Trump has taken that away,
Cut funding, cut staff, etc. Would rather not go now.

Unbelievable how they're gaslighting the American people. Probably waiting for something big to happen so they can pin the blame on the Democratic Party for the 2025 Depression they're hurtling towards.

Their parents and grandparents were born here. Just regular Americans who were held in a room for several hours without food and questioned about their feelings on Trump extensively. They took their phones and searched them, they think they were on their Facebook or Insta accounts and then started questioning them about Trump among other things. They had to beg to be let to use the bathroom. And theirs isn't the only such story, this is happening at our airports right now, ICE is targeting people who are anti trump to harass and detain.

The vast majority of foreign tourism is to blue northern cities, California, and Las Vegas. There is, however, a lot of domestic tourism from blue areas to red areas.

27. Club World Cup tickets now cut to $20 - 50,000 empty seats in Atlanta for Chelsea/LAFC match
Tue Jun 17, 2025, 02:36 PM

Womp womp. Strangely enough, the article below doesn't mention ICE or Trump's bullshit, or fears of mass arrests. Huh. I wonder why.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino boldly dubbed the 2025 Club World Cup “epic,” yet the tournament’s launch paints a starkly different picture. Chelsea’s 2-0 victory over LAFC in Atlanta saw 50,000 empty seats haunting the 71,000-capacity Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Ticket sales have plummeted, exposing a troubling lack of public interest per BBC.com.

This isn’t the spectacle FIFA envisioned. Reports confirm fewer than 25,000 tickets sold for the opener featuring Inter Miami and Al-Ahly, despite slashed prices to as low as $20 with up to four free tickets offered per TheAthleticFC. Fans aren’t biting, and the empty stands scream apathy.

EDIT

Ticket sales tell a grim story. FIFA’s desperate price cuts, some as low as $10 for premium matches, haven’t moved the needle. Hard Rock Stadium’s opener with Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami faces similar fears of sparse crowds.

Public disengagement is palpable. Social media buzz on X reveals fans mocking the empty seats, with some calling it “FIFA’s flop of the century.” The contrast between Infantino’s hype and reality stings. The tournament’s format isn’t the only issue. Hosting matches in the U.S., far from many clubs’ fanbases, alienates supporters. Travel costs and lukewarm interest in non-local teams don’t help.

EDIT
