No doubt there are plenty out there, even within the so called 'Christian' community, that would agree there are some bad actors, and seriously astray. And alongside, also some plain old charlatans and mountebanks (which religion has always had to deal with). But the misguided and frauds in no way make for the whole - and certainly don't justify a blanket statement of "American Christianity Is Cruel On Purpose"
(and, yes, non-christian agnostic here. - and no 'friend' of either church, or religion ... - likewise, not very fond of broad brush, nor sloppy propaganda.)

(9,727 posts)Is just as tone deaf and intentionally missing the point as not all men.
It doesnt say All American Christianity and even discusses Liberation X-tianity and how it is different and that we should team up with them to stop the Christo-fascists.
Did you Actually watch the whole video because it sure doesnt sound like it.

(14,826 posts)Which almost immediately sets the stage for this being a piece of 'schlock'
And that ridiculously broad brush statement is what I responded to.
If this kind of stuff ticks a lot of boxes for you ... Go ahead and sing its praises. Your privilege.
But I won't be joining you.

(12,339 posts)"Not all Christians". Did you not watch it?
He provides specific and accurate examples of those who meet the criteria of the title.
But you missed the whole point of the video. He starts out with saying you Christians have a rehetorical advantage to be kind and loving and yet many of you are cruel and nasty.
With your comments, it's clear you missed the whole point.

(14,826 posts)There is no excuse for this type of misleading click-bait hyperbole - (regardless of how great or worthy or enlightening the content that follows)
And I will continue to strongly criticize any post or content that follows this pattern in the future. No apologies !
Fix your nasty, misleading, 'deliberately stir up sh*t' headline ! Then we'll be good !
Farmer-Rick
(12,339 posts)You are violating almost all of them.
If you are going to blow your top every time someone posts on the Aeithist group anti religious headlines you are going to spend a lot of time in this community.
I will post as many "deliberately stir up sh*t" post headlines as I can find because you do not rule this forum with your misplaced outrage.
Go to your religious forums if you want folks to consider your comments have some value. Here most Aeithist don't believe in most of your religious mythology.
You are proving just how nasty and out of control Christians can get when people dare challenge the dogma of religion.

(14,826 posts)(as has been stated previously - see original post #1) Nor a defender of religion or 'religious value' in general. Technically an agnostic - which I see as the 'surest' bet, on a topic and landscape that is completely devoid of 'surety', solid answer or data.
What I am unabashedly opposed to - and make no apologies for - is crap click-bait headlines (and content) - that mislead and misinform from the very beginning of a discussion. Has nothing whatsoever to do with 'offended Christianity'. It's just the (deliberate, and deliberately provocative/misleading) crap title !

(9,727 posts)Sadly it had the usual reply of people who didnt even bother to watch the video. I can see that they are replying in here too
Anyway, I wanted to say Sorry I didnt mean to steal your thunder!
If you want I will add a link in that post to here!
It is a great video regardless. Thank you!!

(12,339 posts)This seems to attract Christians who are derogatory and dismissive about the topic. Kind of proving the point.
