75 mph didn't allow time to snap a picture, had a huge yellow sunflower which is the State flower and
it said "Kansas voters have had enough"
When I was getting ready to leave the hospital my niece made a nice comment about my Smokey the Bear
Fascism T-shirt and before I knew it these 6 pro-life Catholics are talking about IQ4.7's death wish for
6 Congress members was pure Fascism and then they started talking about how the pedophile protectors
in Congress were covering for the richest people in this Country while giving them huge tax breaks.etc, etc
I would not have heard that from them 10 years ago, still believe my State is starting to turn purple.

(22,390 posts)One I spotted was about half that size with the sunflower taking up the entire left side, somewhere
between Victoria and Bob Dole's Russell.

(22,390 posts)They said their next one is going up in Dorrance kansas, that's in Russell County "Bob Dole's Country"
as Russell's billboards brag about. Russell County is as red as it gets in Kansas, all oil fields & farmers.

(22,177 posts)For those not familiar with the lay of the land, Mount Oread is one of just a few bumps in the ground west of the Missouri and is home to the University of Kansas (KU) in Lawrence.
It has generally been a pretty liberal place compared to most of the surrounding areas. Traveling as a young student in the late 60s/70s was "interesting". Friendlies: Denver to the west, Madison to the north, nothing to the south; east - long drive to the coast.
KS - please let me know that this has changed.

(27,285 posts)Unfortunately, a year and a half of it was in too-close association with some prick named Brownback (who later became Governor....) but most of the place was bearably liberal.

Mixed feelings about Bob Dole after all these years.
Kansas has had its share of heroes and villains.

(22,390 posts)My mom's family had 10 kids, my dad's 7, my dad was the only Democrat, mom a pro-life republican.
Out of all my cousins (about 90) I only see one MAGAt, heard there's one other from his fakebook posts.
One other a very vocal anti-vaxer MAGAt passed away in 2020 with covid, that changed the thinking on my
mom's side, they went and got vaccinated.
Majority of people around my red town are not bragging about Agolf Twitler like they did 5 years ago, they
don't fly his flags like they used to either.

(3,870 posts)lingering Brownback Effect? That guy was terrible (though "terrible republican" is redundant).

(9,634 posts)will no doubt AGAIN vote for a Republican to fuck things up. I've been voting since 1972 and on and on it goes in Kansas.
