I'm shopping at Amazon Fresh Market near my home. I saw a man there putting his fingers in the food bar and tasting the food. WTF!!! I rarely snitch, but it's a health hazard so I told the cashier as I checked out. That's why I rarely eat at a buffet.

Not exactly related, but a similar gross incident was the time I saw a woman walk barefoot into one of the public bathrooms at a highway rest stop. Given the thousands of people that use those facilities, the thought of walking barefoot in one gives me the heebie-jeebies.
I also hate having to take my shoes off at airport security. I usually bring a second set of socks to immediatey change into before putting my shoes back on.

Many countries in Europe keep cats in their stores because it signifies cleanliness. I remember walking past a bakery and seeing a cat curled up asleep in the window next to the breads and pastries. It was a normal sight.

(53,889 posts)I've seen the same thing at my store.
Not to mention I had to beg the store manager to stop putting out salad and food bar offerings at the beginning of Covid.
The "grazers" are still putting their unwashed hands into the grapes and the pistachio nuts.
